Snow-shoe hiking routes

Hanicker Alp
Beautiful views on this hiking trails below the Catinaccio and the Latemar.
  Technical Information
Ascent 700 m
Walking time: 5-6 hours
Difficulty:

Steep and demanding up and downs on snow-covered tracks, sure-footedness necessary.

Above S. Ciprian (1175 m) ascent to the Nigra hut on track no. 1T. The track leads mostly through forest consistently upwards for approx. 2 hours. From the Nigra hut a forest road leads eastwards and later a track next to the sledging piste upwards to the turn-off Baumann hut. Following the signs we shortly reach a shepherd’s hut in a clearing, from here on the right a track serpentines steeple up. Aftere 1.5 hours one reaches the „Angel“ pastures, a magnificent look-out on the Latemar, to the Corno Bianco and Corno Nero, the Brenta group, Presanella, Ortles, Ötztaler and Zillertaler Alps. In the fore the Sciliar and the Ciamin preaks. Above the track – you are nearly able to touch them – the Vajolet towers and the majestic Croda di Re Laurino with the „Gartl“.
The descent leads us down to the Plafötsch pastures and on over the Traun pastures back to S. Ciprian.
Highlights of the tour: Solitary trails in a natural mountain area. With a bit of luck one can see some wild animals as some chamois. The views to the Catinaccio and the Vajolet towers are guaranteed and absolutely spectacular.
